This would be me attempting to post a photo I Instagrammed from the iPad. Carry on. (It’s a cat!)

On my new gig…

I’ve got a new job! This just went out over the e-wire, and here it is now for some edification.

=-=-=-=-=-=-

Greetings,

My term as Creativity’s associate editor has come to a close.

I’m still under the Ad Age umbrella, though, and have exciting work ahead of me.

As of next week I’m moving into a role programming and developing content around Ad Age and Creativity events–recruiting speakers, creating leading content around concepts and panel agendas, making sure everyone knows what’s coming up, etc.–as Ad Age’s events content manager.

While it’s a disappointment to see my part in the day-to-day reporting in Creativity’s exciting world diminish, I’ve got something new to be looking forward to: shaping how we interact with you, dear reader, in the live space, how we help confer knowledge and make deeper connections.

Forever Changes

It’s been a bit of a layoff, my lovelies, but don’t fret, I’ve got great news and will approach this space with renewed vigor soon enough.

First off, Miami was a great time. Not as fun as previous years; there was a feeling of spacing that left bookings and whatnot seeming a bit thin. The M3 Summit was a grand affair as usual, bringing down established talent as well as up-and-comers. Remix Hotel is on the rise as well — I’m anxious to see how their partnership with M3 develops.
Photos are here, review is here.

Second, I’ve started to settle into a new gig, as a staff writer/reporter at Advertising Age’s Creativity. I’m also going to be writing for the companion website, AdCritic.com. As tough as it was to say goodbye to my colleagues at the Post, I’m so excited about Creativity and the directions the magazine is taking. More about that later.

Lastly, I’m slowly recovering from another bi-annual technological revolt. Currently a kaput hard drive is on its way to one of the greatest tech wizards ever to haunt Detroit and the husk of a once-working iPod sits on my dresser. Of course, in life, all things are transitory, but I sure wish I had backed up the good stuff.

At any rate, drop by often. I’ve heard a lot of great tunes lately, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on that front. Once I get used to this wild advertising industry I’ll surely have thoughts there, too.

Crank ‘er up

Gentle Reader:

Please bear with me if you’ve arrived to find such generic confines.

There’s still spackle all over the walls, the floor has that brown paper down for workmen to walk on (though they never do), and all that’s in the fridge is a flat 2-liter bottle of cola.
